New Article about Bushmeat Study
Did you see this article in the Zurich Unterlander on June 5th, 2012? The article is titled 'Kampf dem Buschfleisch-Import' which means 'Fight the import of bushmeat'. This article is in german (sorry but no translation is available yet), but explains how Customs Agents in Zurich and Geneva regularly confiscate bushmeat being smuggled into Swiss Airports via passenger luggage.
It features Tengwood's ongoing study in regard to bushmeat coming into Switzerland. Our study will help to identify the species most at risk from this illegal trade in wildlife and also create more awareness about the problem. Ultimately, we hope that awareness will help to improve policies and allow Customs agents to more effectively control the import of bushmeat.
